Get out!

We have been taking advantage of the nice weather. Anyone who knows me knows I'm an indoor kind of girl. But I'm willing to sacrifice for my boys. Monday, we went out after naps. The boys are genetically wired (via Daddy) to crave the outdoors. The boys are genetically wired (via both of us) to immediately get runny noses, sneeze, cough, etc. upon entering the outdoors. Luke did not disappoint. But he had a great time and didn't seem to care at all that I kept chasing him around with a kleenex.

Seth's favorite outdoor toy - I got to referree more than one bubble mower fight on day one of the great outdoors, 2009
At 13 months, Seth sat on a blanket and cried if you made his feet touch the grass. Luke would have NONE of that!

Seth finally got the hang of blowing bubbles himself. He was so excited!

Then on Tuesday we went to the zoo! I had a throat thing going on and the doctor couldn't see me until after 3:00 and I've discovered that sometimes it's just easier to be sick somewhere else. Luke was confined to his stroller and Seth was in his element so no fighting, no whining, no chasing, and no messy house to pick up during nap time. Yeah for everyone!

Seth "shhh'd" me at the polar bear exhibit, as the bear was clearly trying to sleep. So, why does my "shhh'ing" not work when Seth wants to scream outside of sleeping Luke's bedroom?

The sheep was terribly exciting!

Seth wanted to know if we could "pat" the red panda. Not so much honey.

The new brown bears were quite entertaining. They were playing in the water and wrestling around with each other.

Seth was pretty sure they were giving 'nose kisses' at one point.

Need. To. Sleep.

Broc...

Seth has a very favorite stuffed friend. For the longest time he was known only as Puppy. Then one day he became Doggy. Then Grammy & Grampy got a dog and named it Beckley and everytime Seth said Beckley it sounded like broccoli. So, we started calling his dog Broccoli and it became just Broc. However, I always think it sounds a little like he's calling the dog Barack and I always feel like I need to offer an explanation. So, if anyone is still awake, that is how Broc came to be Broc. These are some of my favorite Seth & Broc photos -

Posing for my new camera, back in November

Taking a ride on the Christmas train, with Seth at the controls

And finally, last week Seth asked if he could sit in his rocking chair and rock Broc - so loving

And, lest you all think I've forgotten about Luke just because he didn't slice his head open and cause us all great grief - here is my clown! And such a clown he is!

A quick update on Seth's head...

He is doing great. He has been fine pretty much since the day after it happened. I think I was more bothered than he was! He does like to discuss the wound. Although he calls it a "free gash." I have no idea what that means!! And he says that "the big library give me lots of blood." It's so funny what they remember! Unfortunately, he cannot leave things like peeling glue alone so he has to be bandaged before most naps and every night. Then the band-aid tape breaks out his sensitive skin (thanks Grampy, I'm blaming you for that attractive trait!). But he has learned that if he will let us take the bandage off, he can have a jelly bean (thanks Grammy, you got the jelly beans started!). I said to him the other night, while I was applying his bandage, "I'm so sorry this happened to you." And he said, "that's okay Mommy." He can be so sweet when he really wants to! Anyway, I am just ready for the glue to come off so we can see what the scar looks like and we can get his 3 year pictures taken - hardly seems possible but he will be 3 in April!!
